The Ardennes Forest: Already a location burnt into the history books for war, the forest of the Ardennes is a region of extensive forests and rolling hill country. A thin layer of snow covers the ground and shallow foxholes still remain from World War II. Great oak trees tower up from the ground in the forest, giving way to lightly forested, snowy hill country. Areas within the forest have suffered the onslaught of great artillery barrages, the trees here are burned and splintered, as if felled by lightning. The ground is uneven and knows too much of brave men's blood. Men have not touched parts of the forest out of respect, some of it has indeed grown back and become beautiful- but there are areas that are too scarred by war and battle to ever recover.
A labyrinth of tall, dark, narrow trees, it is still scarred by the machines of war from half a century ago. If one dipped their hand into the soil in some areas they may still find bullet shells and fragments of twisted metal from spent grenades. An eerie place and one with many ghosts of the past.
